    Striking map showing the routes of Sabena Airlines throughout Africa, the Middle East, and Europe created in beautiful color patterns with the oceans surrounding it in blue tones. The map features many of the cities printed in gold, as well as the flight patterns that connect them together. The routes delineated in the map show the two main hubs of Sabena to be Brussels with Leopoldville, capital of the Belgian Congo (now Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo) with a large number of other destinations around and between them. African tribal art is used in this image as part of the design as well as the regional representation of ethnic people. Published in Brussels by Marci in 1960.

    A lovely vintage poster designed by Otto Nielsen for SAS Scandinavian Airlines System showing the World in beautiful bright colors on dark background. The map is embellished by fine vignettes and the destinations where the SAS operates in elegant gold. Scandinavian Airlines System is the flag carrier of Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, founded in 1946. SAS is the eighth largest airline in Europe and operates 157 aircraft to 123 destinations.

    A rare very detailed cartoon map of Frankfurt am Main published in Darmstadt in 1954 by Stars UY Stripes. All the historic sites, streets and famous buildings are labeled and many of them are illustrated by lovely vignettes or caricatures (see Beethoven, Goethe, Stolze, Adickes and others). The funny map drawn by Byrel W. Burgess shows also all the Frankfurt greater area with a particular attention to the American presence (schools, hospitals, posts etc.). Chicago it’s curiously drawn in top right corner.
