Out of stockFirst edition of the decorative double hemisphere pictorial map prepared by Luc-Marie Bayle for TAI Transport Aeriens Intercontinentaux with two decorative compass rose oriented with the north to the upper margin. The hemispheres are surrounded by fun images of various explorers in divers modes of transport a hot air balloon, early and later forms of aeroplanes, rowing boats, sailing ships, galleons, whales and fish. TAI routes are shown in red. The Transport Aeriens Intercontinentaux company began as a charter airline in June 1946 in association with the Messageries Maritime Shipping Company.

Out of stockColorful folded pictorial map of the solar system showing the the space exploration, created shortly after the Apollo 8 mission, the first crewed spacecraft to leave low Earth orbit and the first to reach the Moon, orbit it, and return. The map is accompanied by a second separate folded sheet describing in detail (with nice design of each ship, information about carrier missiles and space suits, etc.) the most important missions from 1957 – 1968. The very interesting and decorative map shows the trajectories of both manned and unmanned spacecraft, the path of the solar system, Moon orbit, planetary orbits, relative sizes of the planets, satellites and space crafts. Includes colored reference at the lower margin. At least three editions of this map were published, this being an example of the second. The differences between the three editions revolve around the presence of Apollo missions: the first edition was published before the Apollo program began launching missions, while the second includes Apollo 8, the third edition includes the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon.

Lovely pictorial map of the United States featuring information about the varied backgrounds of the citizens and the industries in different parts of the country. The very decorative promotional map issued for the Brussels Universal Exhibition of 1958 shown on America as a multi-national, multi-cultural nation. The map is covered with pictorial images of historical sites and Americans working and playing. Labels on each state show the principal national origins of the residents, for example, Danish, Dutch and German in South Dakota. Across the top are eight figures in stereotypical native clothing (kilt, sombrero, wooden shoes). Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Alaska are shown as territories. At Bottom left the author’s signature. This map was issued as a folded map and it retains its folds.

A beautiful pictorial map of the world, showing the routes flown by French Airline Union de Transports Aériens. The world centered on Pacific is depicted physical with a nice colors.
The map shows UTA’s routes to the African Continent from Paris, primarily flying to former French colonies in West Africa, as well as to Karachi, Athens, Bangkok, Saigon, Singapore, Djakarta, Darwin and French Polynesia. Routes to Honolulu and Los Angeles from Papeete are also shown.
Union de Transports Aériens (UTA), formed in 1963 as a result of a merger between Union Aéromaritime de Transport (UAT) and Transports Aériens Intercontinentaux (TAI), was the largest wholly privately owned, independent airline in France.
