Grande e dettagliata carta geografica che mostra il territorio delle fortezze del cosiddetto Quadrilatero, il sistema difensivo costruito tra il 1815 e il 1866 dall’Impero austriaco nel Lombardo-Veneto che si dispiegava appunto su un quadrilatero i cui vertici erano le fortezze di Peschiera del Garda, Mantova, Legnago e Verona, comprese fra il Mincio, il Po, l’Adige. Difficilmente aggirabile ostacolava i movimenti di truppe nemiche nella Pianura Padana. La carta, pubblicata a Milano nel 1866 dalla litografia Ronchi, mostra anche la ferrovia Milano-Venezia tramite la quale, dal 1850, erano garantiti i rifornimenti.
