Interessantissima carta geografica della provincia di Verona disegnata da Francesco Naymiller, incisa su acciaio da Pietro Allodi e pubblicata a Verona nel 1884 da Civelli all’interno dell’opera Idrografia Sotterranea nell’Alta Pianura Veronese del geologo Enrico Nicolis. Grande e dettagliata carta geografica che mostra il territorio delle fortezze del cosiddetto Quadrilatero, il sistema difensivo costruito tra il 1815 e il 1866 dall’Impero austriaco nel Lombardo-Veneto che si dispiegava appunto su un quadrilatero i cui vertici erano le fortezze di Peschiera del Garda, Mantova, Legnago e Verona, comprese fra il Mincio, il Po, l’Adige. Difficilmente aggirabile ostacolava i movimenti di truppe nemiche nella Pianura Padana. La carta, pubblicata a Milano nel 1866 dalla litografia Ronchi, mostra anche la ferrovia Milano-Venezia tramite la quale, dal 1850, erano garantiti i rifornimenti.

Pianta topografica di Verona completata ai lati da testo descrittivo in tedesco e legenda con 4 riferimenti ad altrettanti punti di interesse. Tratta dall’opera Curioses Staats und Kriegs Theatrum di Gabriel Bodenehr (firma in basso a destra) pubblicata ad Augsburg nel 1725. Gabriel Bodenher (1664 – 1758) fu valente incisore e famoso editore. Nel 1716 acquistò i rami della produzione cartografica degli Stridbeck e ripubblicò, aggiornando, molti dei loro lavori.

A fine miniature map from “Epitome Theatri Orbis Terraum” published in Amsterdam in 1602.The maps were based from those in P. Galle’s final edition of 1598 but were drawn and engraved with great care. They may be easily recognised as they have a wide border with latitude and longitude shown. [cod.380/15]
