    A particularly attractive pictorial map of Bavaria in Germany centered on Munich and Ingolstadt by anonymous author published in 1930 circa.  The map is covered with vignettes describing major towns and landmarks along the roads and includes decorative cartouche, compass rose and inset lovely views showing Dinkelsbuhl, Nuremberg, Bamberg e Passau.     Grande carta geografica pittorica della Germania concepita in collaborazione da Fritz Hölzel (topografia), Karl-Heinz Schelling (illustrazioni), Manfred Langhans-Ratzeburg e pubblicata a Darmstadt nel 1954 con la direzione di Karl-Otto Gassdorf. La mappa mostra l’intera nazione “dalle Alpi al mare” con centinaia di deliziose vignette a sottolineare gli aspetti storici, architettonici, industriali, produttivi e turistici della Germania. Il sottotitolo fa presente che si tratta della parte prima della mappa poichè seguirà una seconda parte (si noti anche il piccolo richiamo nel margine destro fra le lettere F e G) con la descrizione del territorio lungo il confine con la Polonia, carta che per motivi di opportunità politica non vedrà mai la luce.

  • Very interesting engraved map compiled by Johann Jakob von Bors and Franz J. Heger, dissected and mounted on linen, showing the mail routes with distances measured in hours on horseback and hours with the stagecoach. The large map extending west to east from Paris to Cracau and north to south from Königsberg to upper Italy with the nice depiction of the important road from Venice to Turin via Milan, Bergamo and Brescia. Very decorative allegorical cartouches and lower left portions of map, key in French and German. Original colors in outline. In nice condition to be a separate publishing used in traveling. Published at Homann Heir in 1764 (dated). First Edition.

    A rare very detailed cartoon map of Frankfurt am Main published in Darmstadt in 1954 by Stars UY Stripes. All the historic sites, streets and famous buildings are labeled and many of them are illustrated by lovely vignettes or caricatures (see Beethoven, Goethe, Stolze, Adickes and others). The funny map drawn by Byrel W. Burgess shows also all the Frankfurt greater area with a particular attention to the American presence (schools, hospitals, posts etc.). Chicago it’s curiously drawn in top right corner.
