Early regional map of Lucca in Tuscany showing in nice detail also the portion of central Italy from La Spezia in Liguria to Pisa. The original colors highlight the borders of the ancient historical regions of Garfagnana and Lunigiana.
The beautiful map is richly embellished by decorative large title cartouche and a second cartouche with the scale mileages.
From the seminal “Atlas Novus” published in Amsterdam 1636 at Henricus Hondius. The author of the engraving is Everard S. van Hamersveldt (signed at bottom). This is one of the few maps he created. French text on verso. In very good condition. Nice margins.
