Out of stockImportante e suggestiva pianta topografica della città di Vicenza tratta dall’opera Civitates Orbis Terrarum di Franz Hogenberg e George Braun pubblicata a Colonia nel 1572. La pregevole veduta incisa all’acquaforte dallo stesso Hogenberg e da Simon van der Neuvel presenta un tratto preciso e raffinato che associato al punto di vista leggermente rialzato permette di identificare tutta la toponomastica del tempo. La carta, in bella coloritura originale, è completata dalla legenda con 93 riferimenti ad altrettanti punti di interesse.
Il Civitates Orbis Terrarum, il primo atlante della storia a descrivere le città più importanti di tutto il mondo, fu opera di impegno eccezionale e voluta dal Braun a continuazione del Theatrum Orbis Terrarum di Ortelius. Le nuove rappresentazioni delle città, tutte disegnate dal vero, diventarono i prototipi di riferimento per molte pubblicazioni simili successive.- Year: 1572

Out of stockNice small map covering the Belluno area in Veneto from the Mercator Hondius “Atlas Minor” published in Amsterdam in 1648 at Jannsonius with german text on verso. In 1607 Jodocus Hondius published a reduced size version of Mercator’s “Atlas”, itself suitably titled “Atlas Minor”. The maps were copied from those of the great cartographer Mercator of around 1580-90 or were reductions of Hondius’ own maps of 1606. [cod.397/15]

Small and important plan of Padova, clearly inspired by Valegio. From the very rare “Paradisus deliciarum” by Hieronymus Megiser published in Leipzig in 1610. The German artist active in Leipzig from 1592 to 1620, who signed in plate “Johan Faber Jun (ior) fe (cit),” to stand by his father who worked in the same field, was able to claim several times the original of the copper, but it is clearly copied from the Valegio.
