Charte des Lombardisch-Venetianisches Königreichs

Rare regional map of the Kingdoms of Lombardy and Venice from Allgemeiner Hand-Atlas zum Gebrauch fur die Jugend in Hoehern und Niedern Schulen… by Joseph Dirwalt, published in Vienna in 1818 by Tranquillo Mollo.

Tranquillo Maria Laurentio Mollo (1767 – 1837) was a Swiss/Italian, printer, and publisher of maps and sheet music based in Vienna during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In 1792, Mollo began a partnership with the renowned Viennese publishing house Artaria. In 1799 Mollo joined forces with Domenico Artaria, a member of the Artaria family and in 1802, Mollo and Domenico had acquired Carlo Artaria’s entire publishing house. However, their partnership dissolved in 1804, leading Mollo to independently publish and emerge as a significant figure in Austria’s globe and map publishing scene. In 1832, Mollo handed over the business to his sons, Eduard (1799-1842) and Florian Mollo (1803-1869). The Mollo brothers managed the company until 1839, after Tranquillo Mollo’s passing, when they decided to split the business into separate entities.
