colourful large promotional map by Leon Craste designed to promote tourism and commercial development in Cameroon. Published by French Ministry of Overseas in 1950 at Imprimerie A. Karcher. The map shows the area from French West Africa (A.O.F.) and Nigeria to French East Africa and from Lake Chad to Gabon and Spanish Guinea; it is richly decorated by lovely illustrations of African animals (elephants, rhinos, lions, hippos, giraffes etc.) and a native people going about their daily activities. An inset map in the top left quadrant, set among an African village, situates Cameroon on the continent. All around a fine geometrical frame in African style.

The map features many of the cities printed in gold, as well as the flight patterns that connect them together. The routes delineated in the map show the two main hubs of Sabena to be Brussels with Leopoldville, capital of the Belgian Congo (now Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo) with a large number of other destinations around and between them. African tribal art is used in this image as part of the design as well as the regional representation of ethnic people. Published in Brussels by Marci in 1960.
