  • An extremely decorative, large, fine old colour example of De Wit’s rare map of Sicily. It shows in detail the cities of Messina, Milazzo, Palermo, Catania and Trapani.
    It is considered one of the most beautiful and decorative maps of Sicily from the XVII century. This example is in exceptional old original colour.
    The map is embellished with a compass rose, sailing ships, a dedication cartouche and especially, elaborate views of the major cities and ports of Sicily. From Atlas Major by F. De Witt published in Amsterdam in 1680.

    This fine map of Italy extends to include Corsica and Sardinia in the west and through the Dalmatian coast, much of which was controlled by the Republic of Venice. The map is filled with information on the cities and towns and is beautifully ornamented with putti and Europa in the title cartouche and sailing ships and a raging sea battle filling the seas.

    Non comune piccola pianta topografica della città di Padova concepita per mettere in risalto la cinta muraria e arricchita con solo una rosa dei venti ad indicare l’orientamento geografico. Questa curiosa raffigurazione della città è stata anticamente estratta da un foglio più grande titolato Amsterdam uyt gegeven door Cornelis Dankerts op de Nieuwendyk inden Atlas met privilegio che comprendeva la rappresentazione delle 18 più importanti 18 città fortificate dell’Italia settentrionale. Il raro foglio fu pubblicato da Cornelis Danckerts II ad Amsterdam nel 1680.
